Course: Radar Navigator Operational Level

 

Objective:

The purpose of the Radar Navigator Operational Level course is to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for the safe and effective use of radar as an instrument of navigation at sea. The course focuses on developing an understanding of radar principles, gaining practical experience in operating and setting up a radar system, and developing skills in plotting moving objects.

Target audience:

This course is designed for students interested in operating vessels equipped with radar for navigation purposes at sea. These can include both experienced seafarers who want to update their knowledge and new trainees who want to qualify for a career in the maritime industry.

Conditions of participation:

There are no specific prior knowledge requirements for this course. The course is open to anyone interested in using radar as a navigational tool. A radar simulator is used during the course, allowing students to gain practical experience in a realistic environment.

Course Content:

The following topics will be covered during the course:

  • Principles of radar operation and radar technology
  • Operation and setting of a radar system
  • Interpretation of radar images and plotting of moving objects
  • Mastery of radar navigation techniques and procedures.
  • Safety aspects and regulations related to radar navigation at sea
  • Use of radar as a navigation tool

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the “Radar Navigator Operational Level” certificate in accordance with the international STCW requirements (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) Table A-II/1. This certificate confirms that participants have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to use radar effectively as a navigational tool at sea.

Validity:

The obtained “Radar Navigator Operational Level” certificate has unlimited validity and is recognized within the maritime industry. Students can use the certificate as evidence of their proficiency in the use of radar as an instrument of navigation.

Course Duration:

The Radar Navigator Operational Level course has a total duration of 5 days, with courses held Monday through Friday. During this intensive course, students receive both theoretical knowledge and practical training to develop and strengthen their skills in using radar.

Lesson times:

Classes take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. These daily class hours provide sufficient time to cover the necessary theoretical concepts and perform practical exercises under the guidance of experienced instructors.
