The course is split into two parts, namely:

Both parts are concluded with an exam. The exam is administered under the auspices of the Netherlands Institute for Industrial Emergency Response (NIBHV). The exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions that test their knowledge of emergency response. For the practical part, trainees must demonstrate operational skills. Assessment is done by the instructors themselves using the guidelines established by the NIBHV.

Students receive the Diploma in Occupational Emergency Response when they have passed both exam components.

If one is in possession of a valid first aid diploma (Oranje Kruis), an exemption can be requested for the life-saving section upon presentation of this diploma.

Validity
The diploma is valid for one year from the date of issue of the diploma. If the refresher certificate is not obtained within three months of the expiration date at the latest, the diploma of basic training will have to be obtained again.
