STCW – MARCOM A

Introduction
The General Certificate in Maritime Radio Communications(Marcom-A) is intended for use of frequency space at sea.
The Limited Certificate in Maritime Radio Communications(Marcom-B) is intended for the use of maritime frequency space on inland and especially coastal waters.
The Basic Maritime Certificate is intended for the use of maritime frequency space especially on inland waterways.

Duration Marcom A course
5.5 days, including exams.

Duration Marcom B course
3 days, including exams.

Duration of Marifonie course
1 day, excluding exam.

Duration Module B course
1.5 days, excluding theory exam, including practical exam.

Mariphony or GMDSS theory exam
1 hr.

Certification Marcom A
Having demonstrated sufficient operational skills in the operation of the equipment prescribed in SOLAS and the examination, which consists of the sections;
a. Regulations, Procedures and Technology
b. English (Standard Vocabulary);
having successfully completed the course, one obtains the MARCOM-A certificate.
The exam is administered under the auspices of the Radiocommunications Agency.

Certification Marcom B
After demonstrating sufficient operational skills in operation and passing the theoretical examination, one obtains the MARCOM-B certificate.
The exam is administered under the auspices of the Radiocommunications Agency.

Certification Marifonie
Upon successful completion of the exam one obtains the Marifoon Operator Certificate. Duration of the exam is 1 hour.
The exam is administered under the auspices of Agentschap Telecom with DRTC handling the administrative part for you.
