NOGEPA 1.1B Refresher Helicopter Landing Officer

NOGEPA 1.1B Helicopter landing officer refresher course

Introduction:

The helicopter landing officer (HLO) on an offshore mining installation is the person responsible for helicopter deck operations prior to landing, during landing and takeoff of a helicopter, including passenger boarding, cargo handling and refueling if necessary.

The HLO is also responsible for emergency response on the helicopter deck. Therefore, a valid certificate from the “Basic or Refresher Course Member Firefighting and Rescue Team” (course 2.6a/b) is a requirement for the HLO.

In case of offshore mining installations where no helicopter refueling takes place, a valid “Basic or Refresher Helicopter Fire Fighting Course” (course 2.9a/b) is sufficient.
