NOGEPA 1.1A Helicopter Landing Officer

Introduction:

The Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) on an offshore mining installation is responsible for helicopter deck operations prior to landing, during landing and takeoff of a helicopter, including passenger boarding and disembarking, cargo handling and refueling when applicable.

The HLO is also responsible for responding to emergencies on the helicopter deck. Therefore, a valid certificate from the “Basic or Refresher Member Firefighting and Rescue team course” (course 2.6a/b) is a requirement for the HLO.

In case of offshore mining installations where no helicopter refueling takes place, a valid “Basic or Refresher Course in Fire-Fighting Helicopters” (course 2.9a/b) is sufficient.
