NOGEPA 1.3A Helicopter Deck Assistant (HDA).

Introduction:

Under the supervision of the Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO), Helideck Assistants (HDAs) perform routine helicopter deck operations, such as assisting in the boarding and disembarkation of passengers, transferring cargo and baggage to and from the helicopter when it has landed on the helicopter deck of an offshore mining installation.

The HDA will assist the HLO in emergency situations on the helicopter deck. Therefore, a valid certificate from the “Basic or Refresher Member Firefighting and Rescue team course” (course 2.6a/b) is a requirement for the HDA.

In case of offshore mining installations where no helicopter refueling takes place, a valid “Basic or Refresher Course in Fire-Fighting Helicopters” (course 2.9a/b) is sufficient.
