Course: NOGEPA 0.5A – Basic Offshore Safety Training

Introduction:

The NOGEPA 0.5A Basic Offshore Safety Training is specially designed to familiarize trainees with the specific safety issues and regulations applicable to offshore mining installations. During this course, participants are provided with basic knowledge and skills related to emergency situations, both aboard the mining installations and while traveling to and from the installations by helicopter.

Objective:

The main objective of this course is to train students and enable them to acquire and maintain a sufficient level of understanding of conditions, hazards and knowledge and skills related to safety techniques and basic emergency measures. This enables them to work safely and respond appropriately to emergencies on offshore mining installations.

Target audience:

This course is designed for persons involved in work on offshore mining installations, including traveling to and from the installations and performing shipboard activities.

Conditions of participation:

To participate in NOGEPA 0.5A Basic Offshore Safety Training, trainees must have a valid offshore medical certificate.

Course Content:

The course covers a wide range of topics to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to work safely on offshore mining installations. Some of the topics covered include:

  • Safety on offshore mining installations:
    • Risks and hazards on offshore mining installations
    • Safety procedures and regulations
    • Personal protective equipment
  • Emergency procedures and measures:
    • Basics of emergencies and evacuations
    • Firefighting techniques and equipment
    • Evacuation procedures and drills.
  • Helicopter Safety:
    • Safety rules and procedures during helicopter flights
    • Emergency procedures and measures in helicopters
  • First aid and life-saving procedures:
    • Basic principles of first aid
    • CPR and use of AED
    • Treatment of wounds and injuries

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a NOGEPA certificate valid for 4 years. This certificate confirms that the trainee meets the required standards for offshore safety training.

Validity:

The NOGEPA certificate is valid for 4 years.
