NOGEPA 1.4B Gas Measurement Refresher

Introduction:

Certain operations and maintenance activities on a mining facility may require testing and measurement of gas, oxygen and/or toxic substances as part of work permit requirements.

Target audience:

Persons designated to perform gas measurements.

Objective:

Train participants in the theory and practice of operating and using gas measurement and detection equipment, interpreting measured data and taking appropriate actions.

  • Gas measurement strategies.
  • Measurement principles, procedures and rules.
  • Different types of measurement and detection equipment.
  • Interpreting the measured data.
  • State/advice on appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Advice regarding safety devices and personal protective equipment.
  • Enclosed spaces.

Prerequisites for practical exercises:

Maximum of 6 participants per instructor.

Duration:

One (1) day, for both the basic and refresher courses.

Conditions of participation:

No offshore medical certification required.

Validity:
