NOGEPA 2.6B Refresher Course Member Firefighting and Rescue Team Offshore.
Course type:
Emergency training (specialized).
Target audience:
Persons designated to participate in a firefighting and rescue team on an offshore mining installation.
Objective:
Train the participant in the theory and practice of firefighting and rescue activities.
Learning Objectives:
- The role of a firefighting and rescue team on an offshore mining installation.
- Respond to alarms, such as going to the assembly point and selecting and donning the required personal protective equipment.
- Basic principles and procedures of a firefighting and rescue team.
- Basic principles and procedures when working with breathing apparatus.
- Use of firefighting equipment such as hoses and nozzles, reels, portable Class A and Class B fire extinguishers, fire blankets, etc.
- Fire suppression for indoor fires, plant fires and helicopter fires.
- Rescue crew and passengers from a burning helicopter.
- Assist with incidents such as gas leaks, oil and chemical spills, as well as incidents involving injured victims, etc.
- Cleaning and maintenance of used equipment.
- Maintain effective communication.
- Escape from smoke-filled areas by using an escape mask.
Practice:
Efficiently perform all the techniques mentioned in the learning objectives.
Fight helicopter fires with monitors, fire hoses and portable extinguishers.
Rescue crew and passengers from a burning helicopter.
Prerequisites for practical exercises:
A firefighting and rescue team must consist of at least 4 people.
There must be 2 instructors per group and a maximum of 6 participants per instructor.
Duration:
Basic course = 4 days.
Refresher course = 2 days.
Validity:
Two (2) years.
