Objective
The NIHBV Firefighting & Evacuation course aims to train you to become a competent and confident company emergency responder in the field of firefighting and evacuation. You will gain essential knowledge and skills to act quickly and effectively during emergencies, ensuring the safety of your colleagues and the organization.

Target

This course is designed for employees who wish to take on a role as a company emergency worker or who are responsible for safety within their organization. These might include FAFS officers, safety coordinators, facility managers or works council members.

Course content

The NIHBV Firefighting & Evacuation course covers a variety of topics to strengthen your knowledge and skills in firefighting and evacuation. Some key components of the course include:

1. Fire Safety and Risk Analysis.

You will learn the essential principles of fire safety and how to conduct a thorough risk analysis. This includes identifying fire hazards, assessing potential consequences and implementing preventive measures to minimize the risk of fire.

2. Extinguishing techniques and means

Discover different extinguishing techniques and learn how to use the right extinguishers effectively. You will receive hands-on training in handling portable firefighting equipment, such as fire extinguishers and fire blankets. In addition, you will learn the application of specific extinguishing agents for different classes of fire.

3. Evacuation Procedures

In the event of an emergency, rapid and orderly evacuation is critical. You will learn how to create and implement a detailed evacuation plan. This includes identifying safe evacuation routes, organizing communications during evacuations and conducting evacuation drills to improve response time.

4. Communication and Collaboration

Effective communication and collaboration are essential in managing emergencies. You will gain an understanding of communication protocols and techniques used during firefighting and evacuation. In addition, you will learn how to work effectively with emergency services and other involved parties.

5. Practical Exercises and Scenario Simulations.

To put your skills into practice, there will be practical exercises and scenario simulations. This involves simulating realistic situations so you can practice applying your knowledge and skills in a controlled environment. This allows you to build confidence and strengthen response skills.

Certification
Upon successful completion of the NIHBV Firefighting & Evacuation course, you will receive a recognized certificate. This certificate confirms that you have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to respond appropriately in case of fire and evacuation. The certificate is valid according to the guidelines of the Netherlands Institute for Industrial Emergency Response (NIBHV).

Validity
The certificate you receive after successfully completing the NIHBV Firefighting & Evacuation course is basically valid for one year. However, it is recommended that you take regular refresher courses to keep your knowledge and skills up-to-date and extend the validity of your certificate.

Course duration

The NIHBV Firefighting & Evacuation course has a total duration of 1 day. During this intensive day, you will receive intensive training in all aspects of firefighting and evacuation.

Lesson times

The course is offered at different times to meet the needs of different students. Class times will be communicated prior to the course and may vary depending on the scheduled course date and location.

Number of students

To ensure that each student receives adequate attention and interaction, we have a maximum number of students per course. For the NIHBV Firefighting & Evacuation course, we strive for an optimal learning environment and use a maximum of 12.
