IGF Code Basic Training
Introduction
“IGF Code Basic Training” is designed to provide basic training for seafarers responsible for certain safety duties related to the care, use or response to LNG fuel emergencies on board ships covered by the IGF Code. This is a three-day course covering the requirements of STCW A-V/3-1 for persons working under IGF code on a ship.
Objective
Understand difference between ordinary vessels and vessels under IGF code.
Understand the safety requirements for ships according to the IGF Code.
Be familiar with the basic construction of an LNG system.
Safe handling of cryogenic fuel (LNG.)
Know how to ensure safety on board.
Importance of checklists and standard operating procedures.
Prevention of environmental hazards.
Be prepared for emergencies.
Gas Fire Fighting.
Gas safety.
Target
Machinists, Engine ratings and deck officers aboard IGF vessels and office personnel affiliated with the industry.
Conditions for participation
STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate.
Course content
Students who successfully complete the course must be able to demonstrate competency, including
– Contribute to the safe operation of a vessel covered by the IGF Code
– take precautions to prevent hazards on a ship covered by the IGF Code
– Apply precautionary and safety measures at work
– perform firefighting work on a vessel covered by the IGF Code
– respond to emergencies
– take precautions to prevent environmental pollution from fuel releases on ships covered by the IGF Code.
Certification
IGF Code Basic Training (approved by ILENT), which meets the requirements of STCW Reg V/3 and Code Section A-V/3 paragraph 1, Table A-V/3-1.

Review
Formative assessment of practical skills, combined with a short test at the end of the course to measure basic knowledge and competencies acquired during the course
