Objective
The NIHBV First Aid course aims to train you to become a competent and confident first aider. You will acquire essential knowledge and skills to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations where first aid is required. By taking this course, you will be able to perform life-saving actions and support professional emergency services.

This course is suitable for a wide range of professionals and individuals who are ready to learn and apply first aid skills. It is ideal for company first responders, security personnel, teachers, sports coaches, parents and other interested parties who would like to know how to act appropriately in emergency situations.

Course content

The NIHBV First Aid course covers a variety of topics to strengthen your first aid knowledge and skills. Some key components of the course include:

1. Basic principles of First Aid

You will gain an understanding of the basics of first aid, including assessing the situation, safely approaching victims, determining breathing and performing CPR if necessary.

2. Life-Saving Acts

You will learn to perform life-saving procedures, such as applying the Heimlich method for choking, treating severe bleeding and recognizing signs of a heart attack or stroke.

3. Bandaging Techniques and Wound Care.

You will receive hands-on training in applying dressings, stopping bleeding and caring for wounds. In addition, you will learn how to deal with burns, broken bones and other common injuries.

4. CPR and AED use.

You will be trained in the techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and learn how to properly use an automated external defibrillator (AED) to help a victim of cardiac arrest.

5. First Aid for Specific Situations.

The course also covers specific situations where first aid is needed, such as allergic reactions, unconsciousness, seizures and choking. You will learn proper procedures and actions to perform in these cases.

6. Practical Exercises and Scenario Simulations.

To put your skills into practice, practical exercises and scenario simulations are conducted. This involves simulating realistic situations so you can practice applying your knowledge and skills under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Certification
Upon successful completion of the NIHBV First Aid course, you will receive a recognized certificate. This certificate confirms that you have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to provide first aid according to the guidelines of the Netherlands Institute for Industrial Emergency Response (NIBHV).

Validity
The certificate you receive after successfully completing the NIHBV First Aid course is basically valid for one year. However, it is highly recommended that you take regular refresher courses to keep your knowledge and skills up-to-date and extend the validity of your certificate.

Course duration

The NIHBV First Aid course has a total duration of 1 day. During this interactive course, you will gain theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills needed to effectively administer first aid.

Lesson times

The course is offered at different times to meet the needs of different students. Class times will be communicated prior to the course and may vary depending on the scheduled course date and location.

Number of students

To ensure that each student receives adequate attention and interaction, we have a maximum number of students per course. For the NIHBV Firefighting & Evacuation course, we strive for an optimal learning environment and use a maximum of 12.
