STCW - Working at Height (WOH) / Confined Spaces
Introduction
In the maritime and offshore sector, people face difficult and risky working conditions such as working at heights and working in confined spaces.
The STCW – Working at Height (WOH) – Confined Space course is training for anyone working in a high-risk work environment.
In this course, you will learn the definition of a confined space and what heights are considered unsafe to work in.
It covers best practices to ensure a hazardous work environment, from conducting risk assessments to emergency procedures and the different types of personal protective equipment.
Objective
The objective of this course is to make the student aware of these risks and how to minimize these risks as much as possible.
Target audience
The course is designed for individuals working in the maritime and offshore sector who wish to expand their knowledge in this field.
In accordance with IMO Resolution A 150 (27), it is mandatory to conduct a drill every two months to keep the skills of the relevant persons current.
Conditions
Minimum age: 18 years.
Participants must not weigh more than 120 kg. This has to do with the limit for the weight of training materials.
De cursist dient in het bezit te zijn van:
- A valid marine or offshore industry medical certificate
- good health and physically able to participate in practical exercises (including use of breathing apparatus, confined spaces and heat exposure)
Course content
The course consists of two parts with the following topics, namely:
- work at height
- work at height
- positioning, movement and fall protection
- saving from height
- working in confined spaces
- hazards in confined spaces
- rescue from confined spaces
Certificate
Participants will receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the training.
