With the introduction of the Manila amendmends, a number of courses are subject to a refresher requirement, namely Basic Training (BT), Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF), Proficiency in Survival Craft (PSC) and Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats (FRB). The recurrence period is five years.
Seafarers holding one of these certificates must repeat these courses once every five years. Meanwhile, it has been clearly stated by ILenT that repeating less than four months prior to the expiration date of you cerificate leads to issue date on the current expiration date. The issue date of the new certificate will be the issue date of the previous certificate plus 5 years.
In case of exceeding the end date of the valid certificate (training), in exceptional cases and if there is a valid reason, such as illness during an already scheduled training, an exemption (dispensation) can be requested by the accredited training institute on behalf of the student.
The candidate must hold a valid Boating License (VBB) during training.
Participation in any of the safety training courses requires possession of a valid marine medical certificate. Approved medical examiners can be found on the Inspectorate’s website.
Prices indicated on the website are for current calendar year and are indexed annually.
In addition, a number of new courses have been introduced, including Security Awareness (SA) and Designated Security Duties (DSD). Security-related courses are not subject to a repeat deadline.
In addition to regular courses, we can also provide on-site training. For further information, please contact us.
All STCW courses are recognized by the Inspectorate (ILT).
Existing certificates, where applicable, will remain valid until December 31, 2016 at the latest. After that date, one must have a valid certificate of competency in accordance with STCW 2010. Further information can be obtained from KIWA’s website.
