The Maritime Dutch Law Assessment (online) assesses your knowledge of Dutch law required to obtain and have a sailing license recognized. Captains, first mates and chief engineers must prove their knowledge of Dutch law.
This assessment is specially designed for captains of non-Dutch nationality who wish to sail under the Dutch flag (Seafarers Act May 3, 2014).
To participate in the exams, you need:
- Good command of the English language as the exam will be conducted orally in English.
- Ensign or engineer training according to STCW 1978 (including Manila Amendments 2010).
- The participant must have studied the syllabus thoroughly and made available by DRTC via email([email protected]).

The (oral – online) STCW Maritime Dutch Law Assessment exam takes about 60 minutes. Use of the syllabus is permitted during the exam.
