STCW - Maritime Dutch Law Assessment.

This exam is administered remotely (online)! You do not need to come to our training center for this.

A minimum of five days should be allocated for candidate preparation between the booking time and the exam date.

Introduction
The Maritime Dutch Law Assessment (online) exam covers the Dutch law of which a captain must have knowledge in order to have a sailing license recognized and/or obtain a Dutch sailing license. First mates and chief engineers must be able to demonstrate in writing that they have knowledge of Dutch law.

Target Group

Captains who are not of Dutch nationality and wish to sail under the Dutch flag must comply with the Seafarers Act of May 3, 2014.

Conditions for participation

Proficiency in the English language is essential, as the Maritime Dutch Law Assessment exam is administered orally in English. Candidates, whether mate or engineer, should be trained in accordance with STCW 1978, including the Manila Amendments of 2010. It is expected that participants will have thoroughly studied the syllabus, which can be downloaded once enrollment is complete.

Course content

The syllabus covers the following laws and regulations, among others:

– Seafarers Act
– Shipping law
– Naval Letters Act
– Working Conditions Act
– Marine Equipment Act 2016
– Prevention of Pollution from Ships Act
– Commercial Code
– Civil Code

Exam duration

The (oral) exam lasts 60 minutes. Use of the hardcopy syllabus is permitted.

Exams can be conducted remotely through Microsoft Teams, with conditions distributed to each applicant in advance and directly upon booking.

Certificate

Upon successful completion of the examination, the trainee will receive a certificate in accordance with Article 10 of the Seafarers’ Decree for Commercial and Sailing Vessels and with the regulations of section A-II/1 and A-II/2 of the STCW (incl. Manila Amendments 2010)

The Maritime Dutch Law Assessment exam is administered on an individual basis.
