It has become clear from practice that there was a need for further clarification regarding the entry requirements for participation in the STCW refresher trainings in basic safety, survival crafts, fast rescue boat, and advanced firefighting. After intensive consultations with the relevant partners, primarily the members of the Working Group Training Institutes (WTI) and the Royal Association of Dutch Shipowners (KVNR), a note with further explanation was prepared, as well as a flowchart that clearly indicates when one is eligible for a refresher training instead of a full training.
