On the Day of the Shrimp, you can, among other things, see a liferaft up close and even look inside. There will also be a demonstration of how to use a survival suit with a lifejacket in case you are forced to abandon ship at sea. As a highlight, the liferaft will be launched and survivors will be picked up. The KNRM will tow the liferaft.
Additionally, information will be provided about the new regulations regarding safety duties on board fishing vessels and the impact on the crew. With the entry into force on April 1, 2019, of the new Seafarers Decree for Commercial Shipping and Sailing, all crew members must hold a Basic Safety Certificate for Fishermen (BST-V). There have also been changes regarding medical certificates.
At DRTC, you can take the training that leads to obtaining the required certificates, ensuring you fully comply with the legal requirements necessary for your profession. You can register for the above courses on-site. You are warmly welcome at our stand.
