Participants learn about various lifesaving equipment, safe movement on board, emergency procedures, firefighting, handling noise and hazardous substances, and basic first aid principles, as well as specific working conditions on a vessel.
DRTC distinguishes itself in deckhand training by offering unique practical exercises on the inland motor tanker Lingepoort, which has been converted into a training ship for sea rescue courses and is permanently stationed at the training center.
Choosing this motor tanker provides participants with an exceptional learning experience, allowing them to practice real-life scenarios on a ship specifically adapted to Dutch inland navigation standards.
With this approach, DRTC emphasizes its commitment to realism and hands-on training, preparing participants for various maritime challenges. Using this unique training ship enhances the quality of the courses and underscores DRTC’s dedication to high-quality maritime training.
After successful completion of the course, participants receive a certificate for the Basic Safety Training for Deckhands, issued by CESNI. In addition to this CBR-recognized certificate, each participant also receives a certificate for Company Emergency Response (BHV) upon successful completion of the training.
The course complies with the standards for basic safety training for deckhands set by CESNI (Decision: CESNI 2021-I-1) and Directive (EU) 2017/2397. The training program is approved by the CBR.
