In juli 2021 is tijdens de vergadering van de Caribbean Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (CMOU) de Code voor de veiligheid van kleine commerciële schepen waarmee reizen worden ondernomen in het Caribisch gebied (Code of Safety for Small Commercial Vessels; SCV-Code) gewijzigd.
De wijzigingen van de SCV-Code gelden vanaf 1 augustus 2021 voor de toepassing van de Regeling veiligheid zeeschepen en de Regeling veiligheid Arubaanse, Curaçaose en Sint Maartense zeeschepen.
Deze vereiste heeft een overgangsperiode van drie jaar. Dat betekent dat vanaf 1 januari 2025 elk bijlage 6-schip de vereiste gecertificeerde bemanning aan boord moet hebben.
DRTC is inmiddels geaccrediteerd voor Boat Master III & Boat Master II door Inspectie Leefomgeving en transport en doorloopt op dit moment het traject voor de accreditatie van de Boat Master I.De eerste Boat Master III cursus werd gehouden door DRTC op Bonaire gehouden van 9 tot 14 mei 2022. Walbootsman Nicole Madlenar, kapitein van het Loodsvaartuig “Velos” is de instructeur Boat Master De Ruyter Training & Consultancy.
Koert Heidergott SICN (Scheepvaartinspectie Caribisch Nederland) en Alexan van Roon (Loods) hebben Walbootsman Madlenar de hele week bijgestaan met oefeningen die voor een uiterst authentieke en professionele ervaring zorgden. “I feel fortunate to have been a participant in the first graduation class. It is truly a first-class course filled with theory and plenty of hands-on experience in the field. Introduction to navigation-chart plotting, firefighting, man-over-board and abandon ship drills in the sea and boat handling are included”
