About this course

GWO FAW + MH Refresher

Introduction
The GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) focuses on reviewing and strengthening previously acquired safety skills essential for working safely in the wind industry. The training combines theoretical instruction and realistic practical exercises to reinforce risk awareness, safe behavior, and effective response during emergencies.

The course is suitable for personnel working onshore and offshore in the construction, maintenance, or servicing of wind turbines and wind farms. Upon successful completion, participants receive renewed, internationally recognized GWO certificates valid for two years, linked to their personal WINDA ID.

Objective
The goal of this refresher course is to ensure that participants maintain their competence and confidence in recognizing, preventing, and managing fire risks, as well as performing manual handling tasks safely and ergonomically within the wind industry.

Target group
This course is designed for all personnel working or preparing to work in the wind energy industry, both onshore and offshore. It is especially relevant for those involved in wind turbine construction, maintenance, or service who are regularly exposed to physical and fire-related risks.

Practical training with portable fire extinguishers

Small Fire Extinguisher Training Area

Participants learn how to safely and effectively extinguish fires using handheld and portable fire extinguishers. Training takes place in realistic outdoor fire scenarios, allowing trainees to experience firsthand how different extinguishers work and what their limitations are.

What makes this facility unique is the hands-on approach to a variety of fire situations — from small liquid and gas fires to solid materials. Participants not only practice firefighting techniques but also learn to assess safety, distance, and the appropriate extinguishing strategy.

Who is it for

The Small Fire Extinguisher Training Area is used by maritime personnel, offshore teams, industrial emergency responders, and emergency response officers (BHV) who need to know how to control small fires quickly and effectively.
