About this course

STCW Medical Care (MC)

Introduction
On board ships, seafarers often have no direct access to regular medical facilities. Therefore, designated crew members must be capable of providing medical assistance in the event of accidents or illnesses. The STCW Medical Care course focuses on performing medical procedures independently and applying the correct protocols in consultation with doctors from the Radio Medical Service. This training contributes to maintaining a high standard of medical care on board and ensures the safety and well-being of the crew.

Objective
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Act effectively in the event of accidents and illnesses on board

  • Conduct medical examinations and establish accurate diagnoses

  • Use medical equipment and medicines on board correctly

  • Communicate effectively with the Radio Medical Service for professional advice

  • Provide first aid and perform essential medical treatments

Target group
This course is intended for captains and seafarers responsible for providing medical care on board vessels operating under the STCW Convention.
