Course Content
GWO Working at Heights (WAH)
This module focuses on working safely at height within the wind industry. Participants learn the correct use of personal fall protection equipment, rescue devices, and evacuation procedures.
Practical training includes:
-
climbing and descending turbine structures;
-
inspecting and using harnesses correctly;
-
applying work positioning and backup systems;
-
performing basic rescues using approved equipment;
-
recognizing hazards and carrying out emergency procedures.
GWO Manual Handling (MH)
The Manual Handling module teaches safe and ergonomic lifting, carrying, and moving of loads within the wind turbine environment.
Participants learn to:
-
apply correct lifting techniques and postures;
-
prevent strain and injury;
-
work safely and collaboratively during manual tasks;
-
identify risks and adopt safe behavior in the turbine environment.
GWO Sea Survival (SS)
The Sea Survival module prepares participants for safe conduct during offshore transport and emergency situations at sea. Pool-based exercises simulate realistic scenarios such as:
-
transferring safely between vessel and turbine platform;
-
responding to man-overboard situations;
-
using survival equipment and flotation devices;
-
applying evacuation procedures and emergency communication.
GWO Boat Transfer (BT)
This module focuses on safe transfer techniques between vessels and wind turbines (WTGs). Participants learn correct procedures and safety awareness for different types of transfers.
Topics include:
-
onboard safety briefings;
-
identifying transfer hazards;
-
safe transfer between dock, vessel, and WTG;
-
communication and coordination during transfer operations.
Certification
Upon successful completion and assessment, participants receive internationally recognized GWO certificates for:
All certificates are registered in the WINDA system.
Validity
Certificates are valid for 2 years.
After this period, a refresher course for each module must be completed to maintain certification.
Practical Information
Duration: 3.5 consecutive days
Class hours: 08:30 – 17:00
Participants: Minimum 4, maximum 12
Accreditation: Approved by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) – www.globalwindsafety.org
WINDA Registration
All participants must register in WINDA before starting the GWO Combi Training. Registration is mandatory for anyone working in the wind energy industry.
After registration, participants receive a WINDA ID, which must be provided when booking.
Upon certification, DRTC links the achieved certificates to each participant’s personal WINDA account.
