About this course

NOGEPA 1.3A Helicopter Deck Assistant (HDA)

Under the supervision of the Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO), Helideck Assistants (HDAs) carry out routine helideck operations, such as assisting with passenger embarkation and disembarkation, and transferring cargo and baggage to and from the helicopter when it has landed on the helideck of an offshore mining installation.

The HDA will assist the HLO in emergency situations on the helideck. Therefore, a valid certificate of the Basic or Refresher Course Member Firefighting and Rescue Team (course 2.6a/b) is a requirement for the HDA.

In the case of offshore mining installations where no helicopter refueling takes place, a valid Basic or Refresher Course Fire-Fighting Helicopters (course 2.9a/b) will suffice.

Functionally oriented training.

Target Group:
Persons designated to act as Helicopter Deck Assistant on an offshore mining installation.

BHV (company emergency response) is not legally mandatory on Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten as it is in the Netherlands. However, employers are required to ensure a safe working environment, including first aid, fire safety and emergency procedures. On Bonaire (Caribbean Netherlands), the Arbowet BES applies, which includes similar safety obligations. In practice, BHV or equivalent safety training is strongly recommended and often required by employers, clients or insurers.

DRTC (De Ruyter Training & Consultancy) provides practical BHV and safety training in the Caribbean, focused on realistic scenarios such as fire response, accidents and evacuation. With DRTC training, organizations on Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten and Aruba ensure well-prepared personnel and meet applicable safety expectations.
