Introduction
In industrial settings where workers are exposed to hazardous substances or oxygen-deficient atmospheres, respiratory protection remains vital. This refresher course reinforces safe working procedures, maintenance routines, and hands-on experience with breathing apparatus. Participants receive updated theoretical knowledge and perform practical exercises to maintain their competence.

Objective
The objective of this course is to refresh participants’ existing knowledge and practical skills in industrial breathing protection. After completion, participants will be able to safely operate, inspect, and maintain breathing equipment and perform their duties effectively in hazardous environments.

Target Group
Personnel who use independent breathing apparatus as part of their work and already hold a valid Basic Industrial Breathing Protection certificate.

Entry Requirements

  • Valid Basic Industrial Breathing Protection certificate
  • Valid medical clearance for the use of breathing apparatus
  • Physically fit to participate in practical exercises
  • Clean-shaven face to ensure proper face mask seal

Course Content

  • Review of respiratory hazards and breathing protection types
  • Inspection and maintenance of breathing apparatus
  • Safe use of breathing systems in industrial settings
  • Procedures for confined space operations
  • Practical exercises using independent breathing apparatus in realistic scenarios

Certification
Upon successful completion, participants receive the Industrial Breathing Protection Refresher Certificate, extending the validity of their previous certification.

Validity
The certificate is valid for three years. After this period, another refresher course must be completed.

For companies and individuals in all sectors (production, logistics, construction, and office environments) who wish to meet occupational safety requirements.

DRTC provides a wide range of accredited safety courses for the maritime, offshore, wind and industrial sectors.

  • STCW – including Basic Training, Advanced Fire Fighting, Proficiency in Survival Craft (PSCRB/FRB), Medical First Aid, Medical Care and Security Awareness.
  • GWO – Basic Safety Training (BST) and individual modules such as Working at Height, First Aid, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling, Sea Survival and Enhanced First Aid.
  • NOGEPA – Basic Offshore Safety, Helicopter Underwater Escape (HUET), Sea Survival, Fire-fighting and specialised refresher courses.
  • BHV/First Aid/VCA – Basic and refresher courses in Emergency Response, First Aid and Safety Certification for all sectors.

For some courses, you can choose VAT exemption. This means the training will be invoiced without 21% VAT. The exemption applies only to recognised vocational training programmes that fall under official supervision by organisations such as ILT, OPITO, GWO, or NOGEPA.

Choose VAT exemption if you are taking the course for professional purposes or as a private individual without VAT deduction rights.
Choose including VAT if you are booking on behalf of a company that can reclaim VAT from the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.

Your invoice will then state:
“Exempt from VAT under Article 11, paragraph 1, section o of the Dutch VAT Act 1968.”

Yes, lunch and beverages are included in all full-day arrangements unless otherwise specified. On request, we can also assist with hotel bookings.

Our training locations are in Vlissingen, Groningen, Heerenveen, and Delfzijl. We also provide on-site training at client locations.

You can cancel your booking by contacting us via email or phone. For open enrolment courses you may cancel free of charge up to 5 working days before the start. For customised training you may cancel free of charge up to 14 working days before the start. If you cancel within those deadlines the full course fee will be invoiced.
