The GWO Manual Handling, First Aid, Fire Awareness and Sea Survival Refresher is a practical combination course in which participants refresh their knowledge and skills in safe manual handling, first aid, fire safety and sea survival. The training prepares participants to work safely during daily operations and emergency situations in the onshore and offshore wind energy industry.

About this course

GWO MH-R + FA-R + FAW-R + SS-R

Introduction
During this refresher training, participants practise ergonomic lifting and working techniques, providing first aid, fire prevention, safe evacuation and the use of small firefighting equipment. Attention is also paid to safe conduct during boat transfers, offshore emergencies and evacuations at sea. The course combines theory with realistic practical exercises under controlled conditions. The focus is on risk awareness, teamwork, correctly following procedures and increasing participants’ confidence in responding effectively during emergency situations.

Objective
The objective of this combination course is to review and strengthen previously acquired knowledge and skills from the Manual Handling, First Aid, Fire Awareness and Sea Survival modules. After completing the course, participants will be able to lift and move loads safely and ergonomically, recognise medical emergencies and perform life-saving procedures. They will also be able to assess fire risks, carry out a safe evacuation and extinguish small fires. In addition, participants will be able to act safely during offshore transfers, use survival equipment and respond appropriately to evacuations, man-overboard situations and other emergencies at sea.

Target Group
This course is intended for personnel who work or will be working in the wind energy industry or related sectors and who are required to renew their GWO Manual Handling, First Aid, Fire Awareness and Sea Survival certificates.

Practical info

Entry Requirements

  • You must be physically capable of participating in all practical exercises.
  • Due to the use of personal protective equipment, your body weight must not exceed 120 kilograms.
  • A valid GWO Working at Heights certificate is required to participate in the Sea Survival module.
  • You must not suffer from a fear of heights.
  • If you use medication, you must mention this when making your booking.
  • If the use of medication prevents safe participation, the booking will be cancelled free of charge.

Certification
The course is based on the GWO Manual Handling, First Aid, Fire Awareness and Sea Survival modules and complies with the international standards of the Global Wind Organisation. After successfully completing the course and demonstrating the required competencies, participants will receive four officially recognised GWO certificates for the completed modules.

Validity
The certificates are valid for two years. After this period, the corresponding refresher training courses must be completed again to maintain the validity of the certificates.

WINDA Registration

All participants must register in WINDA before attending the GWO MH-R + FA-R + FAW-R + SS-R course. Registration is mandatory for anyone who wants to work in the wind energy industry. After registering, you will receive a WINDA ID, which must be provided when booking the course. After certification, DRTC will link the certificates obtained to the participant’s personal WINDA account.
