The GWO Working at Heights, Manual Handling and Sea Survival Refresher is a combined, practical refresher training course for professionals working in the wind energy industry. During this course, participants refresh their knowledge and skills relating to working safely at height, ergonomic working practices and safe operations in offshore environments. Theory and practical exercises are combined in realistic scenarios, focusing on safety, teamwork, risk awareness and effective action during emergency situations.

About this course

GWO WAH-R + MH-R + SS-R

Introduction
During this combined refresher training course, participants learn how to work safely and responsibly in and around wind turbines. The training covers the use of personal protective equipment, fall protection systems and rescue equipment, as well as safe and ergonomic techniques for lifting, carrying and moving loads.

Participants also practise safe procedures for vessel transfers, evacuations and emergency situations at sea. The exercises are carried out under controlled and realistic conditions. Throughout all modules, the emphasis is on risk awareness, teamwork, safe behaviour and the correct application of previously acquired knowledge and skills.

Objective
The objective of this combined refresher training course is to refresh the participant’s knowledge and skills in working safely at height, manually handling loads and surviving at sea. After completing the course, participants will be able to use the appropriate safety equipment, recognise risks, perform tasks safely and ergonomically, and respond correctly during emergency situations, evacuations and rescue operations.

Target Group
This combined training course is intended for personnel who work or will work in the wind energy industry or related sectors and who need to renew their GWO Working at Heights, GWO Manual Handling and GWO Sea Survival certificates.

Practical info

Entry Requirements
The following requirements apply to participation in this combined training course:

  • You must be physically capable of participating in all practical exercises.
  • Due to the use of personal protective equipment, your body weight may not exceed 120 kilograms.
  • You must not have a fear of heights.
  • You must hold a valid Working at Heights certificate.
  • Any medication use must be disclosed when making the booking.
  • If the medication prevents participation in the practical exercises, the booking will be cancelled free of charge.

Certification
The training course is based on the GWO Working at Heights, Manual Handling and Sea Survival modules and complies with the international standards of the Global Wind Organisation.

After successfully completing the training course and demonstrating the required competencies, participants will receive the following officially recognised certificates:

  • GWO Working at Heights;
  • GWO Manual Handling;
  • GWO Sea Survival.

Validity
The three GWO certificates are valid for two years. To maintain their validity, the relevant refresher training courses must be completed again within the applicable validity period.

Prices: The prices stated on the website apply to the current calendar year and are adjusted annually.

WINDA Registration
All participants must register in WINDA before starting the GWO WAH-R + MH-R + SS-R combined training course. Registration is mandatory for everyone who wishes to work in the wind energy industry.

After registering, the participant will receive a WINDA ID. This WINDA ID must be provided when booking the course. After successful certification, DRTC will link the certificates obtained to the participant’s personal WINDA account.
