About this course

GWO FA-R + FAW-R

Introduction
During this combined refresher course, participants learn how to respond appropriately to accidents, medical emergencies and fire-related incidents in a wind turbine environment. The course consists of a combination of theory and realistic practical exercises.

The First Aid module focuses on life-saving procedures, stabilising casualties and communicating with professional emergency services. During the Fire Awareness module, participants practise identifying and preventing fire hazards, following emergency procedures, safely evacuating personnel and using basic firefighting equipment.

The emphasis is on risk awareness, safe working practices and improving the participants’ knowledge, practical skills and confidence.

Objective
The objective of this refresher course is to update and reinforce previously acquired knowledge and skills. Upon completion, participants will be able to identify and assess medical emergencies and fire hazards, provide life-saving first aid, stabilise casualties, evacuate safely and, when it is safe and appropriate to do so, extinguish small fires using portable firefighting equipment.

Target Group
This combination course is intended for personnel who work or will work in the wind energy industry or related sectors and who need to renew their GWO First Aid and GWO Fire Awareness certificates.

The First Aid module is also suitable for seafarers and technicians who wish to renew their certification in accordance with the guidelines of the IMO/ILO Document for Guidance (1985).
