Basic First Aid Orange Cross - Reexam

Introduction
This refresher course ensures that certified first aiders maintain their competence and stay current with the latest standards and techniques. The course combines theoretical review with practical exercises, enabling participants to apply and strengthen their knowledge in realistic scenarios.

Objective
At DRTC, we recognize the importance of keeping your First Aid diploma from Het Oranje Kruis up to date. The refresher course is specifically designed to renew the diploma’s validity while refreshing essential first aid knowledge and practical skills. Upon completion, participants are fully competent to provide responsible first aid in medical emergencies.

Target group
The course is intended for holders of a valid First Aid diploma issued by Het Oranje Kruis who wish to maintain their certification and ensure their skills remain current.

Course content
The First Aid Refresher Course covers the following topics:

  • The five key points of first aid
  • Knowledge of the human body
  • Disorders of vital functions
  • Local disorders and shock
  • Accidents and situations affecting vital functions
  • Special skills, minor injuries, and bandaging techniques
  • Use of bandages and first aid equipment

Certification
Upon successful completion, participants receive a renewed First Aid Diploma from Het Oranje Kruis. This certification confirms continued competence and ensures the quality of first aid provided.

Validity
The diploma remains valid for two years. To maintain certification, at least one refresher training session must be completed each year. Competence will be assessed during the refresher day. If this requirement is not met, the diploma expires after two years.

Day 1 - Assessment and Certification

This re-examination is designed for participants renewing their Oranje Kruis First Aid certification. During this half-day session, candidates demonstrate their theoretical knowledge and practical first aid skills through a series of realistic scenarios.

The assessment includes managing unconsciousness, breathing problems, severe bleeding, and injuries such as wounds, fractures, and burns. Candidates are also evaluated on CPR performance and AED use. Upon successful completion, participants receive the renewed Oranje Kruis First Aid Certificate.

For companies and individuals in all sectors (production, logistics, construction, and office environments) who wish to meet occupational safety requirements.

  • VCA: usually valid for 10 years
  • BHV: recommended or required annually by most organisations
  • First Aid: validity depends on the certification body, usually annual maintenance and reassessment within 2 years

Yes, we offer blended learning options combining online theory with a shorter practical session.

Bring valid identification and comfortable clothing. For forklift or aerial platform training, safety shoes are required. PPE will be provided where necessary.

DRTC provides a wide range of accredited safety courses for the maritime, offshore, wind and industrial sectors.

  • STCW – including Basic Training, Advanced Fire Fighting, Proficiency in Survival Craft (PSCRB/FRB), Medical First Aid, Medical Care and Security Awareness.
  • GWO – Basic Safety Training (BST) and individual modules such as Working at Height, First Aid, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling, Sea Survival and Enhanced First Aid.
  • NOGEPA – Basic Offshore Safety, Helicopter Underwater Escape (HUET), Sea Survival, Fire-fighting and specialised refresher courses.
  • BHV/First Aid/VCA – Basic and refresher courses in Emergency Response, First Aid and Safety Certification for all sectors.

Yes, we offer refresher modules for many of our courses. The validity of certificates depends on the standard and course.

For some courses, you can choose VAT exemption. This means the training will be invoiced without 21% VAT. The exemption applies only to recognised vocational training programmes that fall under official supervision by organisations such as ILT, OPITO, GWO, or NOGEPA.

Choose VAT exemption if you are taking the course for professional purposes or as a private individual without VAT deduction rights.
Choose including VAT if you are booking on behalf of a company that can reclaim VAT from the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.

Your invoice will then state:
“Exempt from VAT under Article 11, paragraph 1, section o of the Dutch VAT Act 1968.”

You can cancel your booking by contacting us via email or phone. For open enrolment courses you may cancel free of charge up to 5 working days before the start. For customised training you may cancel free of charge up to 14 working days before the start. If you cancel within those deadlines the full course fee will be invoiced.
