About this course

GWO First Aid Refresher

Introduction
During this refresher training, participants learn to respond effectively to accidents and medical emergencies in the wind turbine environment. Day 1 - First Aid refresher

The GWO First Aid Refresher course is designed for participants wishing to renew their valid GWO First Aid certificate and refresh essential life-saving skills. This one-day training combines theoretical review with realistic hands-on practice. The day begins with an introduction, safety briefing, and a review of GWO requirements, followed by a session on anatomy and the body’s main vital functions to help recognize life-threatening conditions.

Practical exercises cover the C-A-B-C-D-E approach, CPR and AED use, management of choking and suffocation, and first aid for severe bleeding and shock. The course also addresses psychological aspects of accidents, including stress and multi-casualty situations (triage). Participants demonstrate their competencies through realistic accident simulations with casualty actors (LOTUS). The training concludes with a group debrief and evaluation.
