Introduction
The STCW – Combined Ship Management – BRM/MCRM course is designed for officers who wish to further develop their leadership and management skills. In their daily duties, officers make critical decisions that directly impact the safety, efficiency, and success of ship operations. Alongside technical and navigational expertise, effective management, communication, and cooperation with both crew and shore-based organizations are essential.
The course can be attended at two locations:

Groningen/Delfzijl: when selecting the Groningen course option, the program is divided over:
Note: for the Ship Management course in Groningen, the first five days take place in Groningen and the final three days in Delfzijl. This dual-location format combines the expertise of DRTC with Noorderpoort’s advanced maritime simulators, offering a dynamic and realistic training experience.
Objective
The goal of the training is to enhance the management capabilities of seafarers and improve their ability to act effectively based on available resources and information. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate leadership, manage resources efficiently, and make sound decisions under pressure to ensure the safety of the ship, crew, and environment.
MCRM (BRM/ERM) Extension
After completing the 8-day Ship Management program, participants can opt for an additional 2-day MCRM (Bridge/Engine Room Resource Management) module.
This management-level (HELM) extension focuses on human factors, leadership versus management, and improving team effectiveness through communication, situational awareness, and decision-making exercises using realistic simulations.
