About this course

GWO WAH-R + MH-R + FA-R + SS-R

Introduction
During this refresher training, participants refresh their knowledge and skills in Working at Heights, Manual Handling, First Aid and Sea Survival. The course combines theory with realistic practical exercises in wind turbine and offshore environments. Participants practise using personal protective equipment, fall protection systems, rescue techniques, ergonomic working methods, life-saving first aid, vessel transfers and sea survival techniques. The emphasis is on risk awareness, teamwork, safe behaviour and responding effectively during both routine operations and emergency situations.

Objective
The objective of this combination course is to review, renew and strengthen previously acquired knowledge and skills. Upon completion, participants will be able to use personal protective equipment and fall protection systems correctly, identify risks associated with working at height and perform emergency and rescue procedures. They will also be able to lift, carry and move loads safely, assess medical emergencies, perform life-saving first aid and stabilise casualties. In addition, participants will be able to carry out safe transfers between vessels and offshore installations, use rescue equipment and respond effectively to emergencies at sea.

Target audience
This course is intended for personnel who work or will be working in the wind energy industry or related sectors and who need to renew their GWO Working at Heights, Manual Handling, First Aid and Sea Survival certificates.

Practical info

Entry requirements

  • You must be physically capable of participating in all practical exercises.
  • Due to the use of personal protective equipment, your body weight may not exceed 120 kilograms.
  • You must not have a fear of heights.
  • To participate in the Sea Survival module, you must hold a valid Working at Heights certificate.
  • If you use medication, you must mention this when making your booking.
  • If the medication affects your ability to participate safely, the booking will be cancelled free of charge.

Certification
After successfully completing the course and demonstrating the required competencies, participants will receive officially recognised GWO certificates for Working at Heights, Manual Handling, First Aid and Sea Survival. The training has been developed in accordance with the relevant GWO modules and meets the international standards of the Global Wind Organisation.

Validity
The certificates obtained are valid for two years. After this period, the relevant GWO refresher courses must be completed again to maintain the validity of the certificates.

WINDA registration
All participants must register in WINDA before attending the GWO WAH-R + MH-R + FA-R + SS-R course. Registration is mandatory for anyone who wants to work in the wind energy industry. After registering, you will receive a WINDA ID, which must be provided when booking the course. Following certification, DRTC will link the certificates obtained to the participant’s personal WINDA account.
