The GWO Manual Handling, First Aid and Sea Survival Refresher is a practical two-day combination course in which participants refresh their knowledge and skills in three essential areas of safety. The course covers safe and ergonomic working practices, first aid in a wind turbine environment and safe conduct during offshore transfers and emergencies at sea. Theory and practical exercises are combined in realistic training scenarios.

About this course

GWO MH-R + FA-R + SS-R

Introduction
During this combined refresher course, previously acquired knowledge and skills from the Manual Handling, First Aid and Sea Survival modules are reviewed and reinforced.

Participants practise safely lifting, carrying and moving loads, providing first aid during accidents and medical emergencies, and acting safely during boat transfers, evacuations and emergencies at sea. The course focuses on risk awareness, cooperation, the correct use of safety and rescue equipment and making the right decisions in emergency situations.

Objective
The objective of the GWO MH-R + FA-R + SS-R course is to refresh and further develop participants’ existing knowledge and skills relating to safe manual handling, first aid and sea survival. After completing the course, participants will be able to move loads safely and ergonomically, recognise medical emergencies and provide first aid. They will also be able to act safely during offshore transfers, evacuations and other emergencies at sea and correctly apply rescue equipment and emergency procedures.

Target Group
This course is intended for employees working in the wind energy industry who need to renew their GWO Manual Handling, First Aid and Sea Survival certificates. The training is suitable for onshore and offshore personnel involved in the construction, maintenance or servicing of wind turbines and wind farms.

Practical info

Entry Requirements

  • Participants must be physically capable of taking part in all practical exercises.
  • Due to the use of personal protective equipment, participants must not weigh more than 120 kilograms.
  • Participants must hold a valid Working at Heights certificate.
  • Any use of medication must be reported when making the booking.
  • If the use of medication prevents participation, the booking will be cancelled free of charge.

Certification
After successfully completing the course and demonstrating the required competencies, participants will receive three separate, officially recognised GWO certificates:

  • GWO Manual Handling Refresher;
  • GWO First Aid Refresher;
  • GWO Sea Survival Refresher.

The courses are based on the relevant GWO modules and comply with the international standards of the Global Wind Organisation.

Validity|
The certificates are valid for two years.

After this period, the relevant refresher courses must be completed again to maintain the validity of the certificates. The individual Manual Handling and First Aid refresher courses each take half a day. The Sea Survival refresher course takes one day.

The prices stated on the website apply to the current calendar year and are adjusted annually.

WINDA Registration
All participants must register in WINDA before attending the GWO MH-R + FA-R + SS-R course. Registration is mandatory for anyone who wishes to work in the wind energy industry.

After registering, the participant will receive a personal WINDA ID. This WINDA ID must be provided when booking the course.

After successful certification, DRTC will register the Manual Handling, First Aid and Sea Survival certificates in the participant’s personal WINDA account.
