Entry requirements
Participants must hold:

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate

Good physical and mental fitness to safely participate in practical exercises (such as CPR and wound treatment)

Basic knowledge of the English language (for medical terminology and communication with the Radio Medical Service)
Course content
The training consists of interactive theoretical sessions and extensive practical exercises, including:

Basic principles of medical care on board
-
Life-saving procedures (Basic Life Support, CPR, use of AED)

Examination of casualties and assessment of vital signs
-
Treatment of wounds, bleeding, fractures, and burns
-
Stabilizing casualties in cases of shock and hypothermia
-
Administration of medication using the medical supplies available on board
-
Use and application of the ship’s medical guide
-
Communication with the Radio Medical Service (RMD)

Application of medical procedures in case of accidents and illnesses on board
Practical exercises are conducted using professional manikins, medical kits, and materials identical to those found on ships to ensure a realistic and hands-on learning experience.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course and demonstration of the required competencies, participants receive the officially recognized certificate:
Proficiency in Medical First Aid, STCW Reg. VI/4, Section A-VI/4, Table A-VI/4-1.
Validity
Five years.
Course duration
Two consecutive days.
Number of participants
Minimum of 4 and maximum of 12 participants.

08:30 – 16:30 hours.

Course recognition
This course meets international STCW standards and is recognized by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
